Important Accounts (PIN-protected)
A private place to keep accounts such as your bank, utilities, and PayPal. Each entry shows the name, account number, and a Link to its login page.
It's built for privacy: the list is hidden by default and encrypted. You unlock it with a PIN, it shows for a short while, then hides itself again.
How the privacy works (plain version)
- Your accounts are encrypted on your device. Encryption is unlocked by your PIN, which serves as the key.
- The PIN is never stored anywhere. We can't see it, and neither can anyone who opens the stored file. The file contains encrypted data.
- If you forget the PIN, the data can't be recovered. There's no reset, by design. Keep your PIN somewhere safe (a password manager is perfect).
- Honest note: a short numeric PIN is convenient but not as strong as a long passphrase. It's far safer than storing this in plain text, but for highly sensitive numbers, use a longer PIN.
Set it up
- Open Settings → Important Accounts.
- Create a PIN. Make it memorable but not obvious.
- Click Add account and fill in:
- Name (e.g. "Huntington Checking")
- Account number
- Login URL (the site you sign in at, shown later as "Link")
- Add as many as you like. Drag the grip handle on the left to reorder them.
- Click Save. Your list is encrypted and stored.
To edit later, come back to this screen and enter your PIN to unlock the editor.
The editor re-locks itself when you leave the section or switch away from the tab, so your data isn't left exposed. Save before you leave. Unsaved edits are cleared when it re-locks.
Use it on your dashboard
- Turn the widget on: Settings → Select Dashboard Widgets → Important Accounts.
- On a new tab, the widget shows a PIN box in the center (the accounts are invisible until you unlock them).
- Type your PIN. Your accounts fade in.
- Each row shows the name, the account number, and a Link to the login page (opens in a new tab).
It hides itself automatically
- After 30 seconds, the accounts fade back out.
- If you click anything outside the widget (another widget, empty space), it hides immediately.
- If you switch away from the tab, it hides.
This keeps your numbers from sitting on screen when you walk away.
Change PIN, or start over
In Settings → Important Accounts:
- Change PIN: enter your current PIN, then set a new one. Your accounts are re-encrypted with the new PIN.
- Forget & wipe: permanently deletes the PIN and all saved accounts. This can't be undone.
Troubleshooting
- "Wrong PIN": nothing is revealed and nothing is changed. Try again.
- Forgot your PIN: there's no recovery. Use Forget & wipe to start fresh, then re-enter your accounts with a new PIN.
- The widget isn't on the dashboard: turn it on in Select Dashboard Widgets (it's off by default).
