Using BGTP day to day
You never type a command. You talk to the assistant the way you always would and use the BGTP verbs in plain English. The assistant calls the tool for you. The first time it uses BGTP it will ask permission. Approve it if you want to continue.
The verbs
| Verb | What it does |
|---|---|
load | Paste the serial or drop the .bgp file into the chat. A hosted provider receives the full serial. The tool stores a local copy and the filter stays off. |
engage | Turn the filter on for this assistant only. |
disengage | Turn the filter off for this assistant only. The key stays. |
engage all | Grok Bot only. Turn it on for every agent, including ones you add later. |
disengage all | Grok Bot only. Turn it off for every agent. |
delete | Delete the stored key from this machine and forget it. The filter goes off with it. Turning it off keeps the key. Deleting does not. |
status | Key available? On here? On for all? Never shows the key. |
translate | Names the columns in Mission Control's language. Name the ones you want, or leave it open and get all 124. Denied unless the filter is on. |
brief | A summary for the assistant of your strong positions, uncertain middles, and consistent responses. Denied unless the filter is on. |
Loading through a hosted chat already sends the full serial to that provider,
even with the filter off. The provider may retain it in the conversation.
Both translate and brief also send your map, decoded into plain English, to whatever
assistant you are talking to. What crosses the
wire spells out exactly what is in each one.
A normal session
1. Load the key in the first message of the session.
Before sharing: this sends the full serial to your assistant's provider if
the assistant is hosted. It may include belief responses, birth date, sex,
country, and postal code. The provider may retain the message or attachment,
even while BGTP is off. Neither disengage nor delete removes that chat copy.
This loading method is not local-only. Continue only if you accept that sharing.
Paste your own serial in place of the brackets, or drop the exported .bgp file into
the prompt and say load:
Use the bgtp tool to load this serial:
[16-character demographic prefix]-[your 248 characters]
This stores the key. It does not turn the filter on. Nothing you said before it was filtered.
2. Engage the filter.
Engage bgtp.
3. Confirm it took.
Check bgtp status.
It should come back on, without ever repeating the key back to you.
4. Ask the assistant to use it.
Loading the serial does not change every reply. Ask the assistant to get the brief when your worldview matters to the question:
Pull my bgtp brief first, then answer this: I've been offered a
job at a company whose politics I don't share. Walk me through it
the way I'd actually weigh it, not the way a neutral advisor would.
Once it is in the habit, the short form is enough:
Reflect my genome on this one — [your question]
5. Turn it off when you are done.
Disengage bgtp.
The pattern to remember
load once at the start, engage when you want the filter on, say brief (or
"reflect my genome") on the questions that matter, and disengage when you are
done. Everything in between is a normal conversation.
Where the switch lives
- Grok Bot.
engage/disengagecover this agent chat.engage all/disengage allcover every Grok Bot agent, including ones you add later. One shared key, two scopes. - Claude Desktop, Cursor, and the Perplexity Mac app. One setting for the whole app, not a separate setting for each Project, Space, or chat.
- Every machine is separate. The light does not travel between computers.
