Your first new tab: the welcome and the sample content
The first time you open a new tab after installing, BGP walks you through three short screens and fills the dashboard with sample content so nothing looks empty. Here's what each thing is.
The welcome, in three screens
- Welcome to your home base explains the dashboard and where to find Settings.
- Connect AI — the extension needs it has three cards: Gemini (free, fastest setup), Claude (best quality) and Local (private, on your computer). Each has numbered steps for getting a key, a paste box and Test & connect. You can Skip for now, but Your Day Ahead, Ask AI, summaries and reflections stay off until something is connected. See Connect AI.
- Your data is yours explains where your data lives and what stays private.
Reopen the welcome any time with the circled ? (Help) button in the top bar. Until AI is connected, a slim amber banner reminds you on each new tab. × dismisses it for that page.
The sample content
A genuinely fresh install starts with:
- Tasks: three sample to-dos.
- Super Task Bar: two projects, "Getting Started" and "Home", with three tasks each.
- Countdowns: the next New Year's Eve and the next summer solstice.
- Tiny Habits: three habits, no check-ins.
- Micro Notes: one note. Important Dates: one yearly birthday.
- Bookmarks: "AI Tools" (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok) and "Favorites" (The Belief Genome Project, MusicPax, Ovadeus, ZenWriter.ai).
- Weather: a preset city until you set yours.
- Your Day Ahead shows a labeled sample until AI is connected.
Everything is yours to keep, edit or delete. Samples never copy to your other devices. Once you edit a sample, it becomes ordinary data and syncs like anything else.
Good to know
- Sample content appears only when the dashboard is completely empty. Real data is never touched.
- It comes back only if everything is empty again, for example in a new Chrome profile.
