Connect Google (Calendar, Inbox, Drive)

Connecting Google puts your calendar and unread mail on the dashboard, powers Your Day Ahead, and enables sync and cloud backup through your own Drive. One connection, once.

Connect

  1. Settings → Connected Accounts → Connect Google.
  2. Sign in and approve in the Google window. Chrome handles the sign-in, so it offers the Google accounts Chrome knows about. To use another one, add it to Chrome first (Chrome settings → You and Google). Switch account and Sign out are on the same row.
  3. Turn on the widgets you want: Today's Calendar, Inbox, Your Day Ahead.

You may see "Google hasn't verified this app." Our verification is in review with Google. Click Advanced → Go to BGP to continue. The requested access stays the same.

What access BGP gets

  • Show your calendar and unread mail.
  • Trash a message only when you click the trash button (undoable).
  • Add a reminder event for each Important Date, only if you turn on Settings → Widget Defaults → Important Dates → phone reminders.
  • Keep one encrypted file in your Drive for sync or backup. It can't see other files. It cannot send email or change anything you didn't ask for. Your data flows straight between your browser and Google.

What BGP can access

  • Show your calendar and unread mail.
  • Trash a message only when you click the trash button (undoable).
  • Add a reminder event for each Important Date, only if you turn on Settings → Widget Defaults → Important Dates → phone reminders.
  • Keep one encrypted file in your Drive for sync or backup. It can't see other files. It cannot send email or change anything you didn't ask for. Your data flows straight between your browser and Google.

Disconnect

Settings → Connected Accounts → Disconnect. The widgets go quiet until you reconnect. You can also remove BGP from your Google account's third-party access page.

Troubleshooting

  • Widgets blank after connecting: make sure you approved the access screen and picked the account you meant.
  • Permission error / 403: disconnect and reconnect.
  • Wrong account: disconnect, reconnect, choose the right one in the Google window.

Have Outlook too? See Connect Microsoft. The Inbox merges both.
